EJ grew up in Walnut Creek California and spent many of his younger years hiking and backpacking in Yosemite National Park and the surrounding Sierra mountains. During this time he gained a fond appreciation for nature and the desire to photograph it’s beauty.


He has a Master of Science Degree in Photography and was a Professor of Photography at Chabot College in Hayward CA.


EJ has won National Awards from Kodak and the National Parks Service with his Nature images. He has also won  International Awards in Editorial, Photojournalism, Portrait and  Nature photography.


EJ has also been a Judge for the WPPI International Print  Competitions in Las Vegas, Nevada (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International).


His work has been published in the Professional Photographer’s magazine  “Rangefinder” (click on EJ’s magazine cover shot on the right of this page to view his article and photos), the National Wildlife magazine (National Wildlife Federation), the ProRodeo Sports News magazine, the Barrel Horse News magazine, the National Parks calendar, the Yosemite Association, Chevron USA magazine and by Arizona Highways. EJ has had numerous front cover shots on ProRodeo Sports News magazine , ProRodeo Business Journal and Homes and Land magazine.
